I know that I have seen a thread on here that discussed this before but I can't find it. I am looking for a way to divide my Galleries into SubGalleries. While I understand that this is not an option in SM I have seen another thread where several options where given. One of which was to have hidden galleries and link them. If someone can direct me to this thread that would be great. Thanks:lust

You can't divide galleries into subgalleries, but you do have 3 levels of organization here plus collections.

Categories contains galleries and optionally sub-categories.
    Sub-categories contain galleries.
    Galleries contain photos.

Collections are galleries that contain photos from other galleries.

Before you start hiding things, look at the structure that is available.

    See help pages at
    http://www.smugmug.com/help/upload-photo
    http://www.smugmug.com/help/collecting-photos

If you have more questions, please include a link to your site. I recommend that you add it to your signature so it is always available to the helpers here. Click You! on the navbar above, then Edit Signature.

Thanks, I know that SM only offers 3 levels, but I know that I saw a post somewhere that showed another way to get around this issue. I haven't purchased my SM site yet. I have been doing alot of research about it first and have decided that we are definetly going the SM route, but won't be able to purchase the site until next week when we get a ck in. I just was trying to get everything ready so that when I get it I can get everything up and going quicker. So I was looking for that post.

The easiest way around it is to create an custom html gallery with links to other galleries. You can also do this by using javascript to redirect the link when you click on a photo in an old-journal-style gallery (as I suggested in this thread), but I don't really recommend that technique any more - a custom html gallery is much easier to create and maintain.

If you want examples, this index gallery was created as an html-only page, while this one was created by overriding pre-existing links. You'll see that some of my links are actually to keyword results - nowadays, you can do this much easier via a "Smart Gallery".

Thanks, I am almost certain this is what I was looking for. Now if that check would just come in so that I can get started on my site.
