A long time friend became a grandpa for the second time this year.
Here are a few shots of his daughter, her man, and their daughter.
Riley is 3 weeks old.

All taken with 7D with a Canon 15-85 lens in studio.

The lighting and compostion seem good enough but I am not digging the processing especially in 1 and 3. To me that gritty conversion just doesn't work for babies.

    Hmmmmmm.

So in my opinion ... :

    #1 is wayyyy to blown
    #2 that's a weird angle + baby's short is blown
    #3 harsh processing
#4 I think this is the nicest of the bunch ...

    More normal.
I'm doing these on a laptop, so colors and brightness could be off some.

Beautiful family. Definitely like the reprocessed ones much better but the vignette in the 3rd one (reprocessed) is not doing much for me.

Redos are much better. On the family shot watch the eyes. Heads need to be turned more toward the camera. In the family shot always try to create a flow of lines. He is good but flip the lady the other direction and let her rest her elbow on his thights. This gives you lines going both ways. She can lean back into him then keep the child where he/she is. This separates the heads on different planes and creates a triangle with the heads which again is a pleasing line and brings the family closer together. Always keep some hair clips on hand to tighten up the blouse or shirt so the straps don't just hang there. Oh yes, those damn rubber band hair holders on her wrist get me in trouble all the time.
