Haines, Alaska - HDR

This is a single tonemapped image of the town of Haines, shot from the ferry. I previously posted this shot, I think, but I went back today and reworked it, using the single image tonemapping process in Photomatix. Did a little adjusting in PS to add a bit of contrast.

Comments are appreciated! How is the color?

It is a tad blue, especially in the mountains...

However, it makes me miss home. I grew up in Juneau for 23 years, with MANY trips up to Haines on the ferry. Great shot... I'd say just bring down the blue...

Hi Lauren. It's a beautiful place, a good composition with good detail etc, but over saturated and contrasted to my eye (personal taste). I have been guilty of this especially with HDRs. I am working very hard to reduce contrast and saturation while still maintaining pop and wow.

Hi Dan--It is a learning process, for sure. HDR images often look flat and soft, which is why I add the contrast. There may be too much saturation, at least in the sky, but it's really not that far off from what I saw. This is definitely an evolving image, so I appreciate your comments. I will continue working on this one because I like its potential!

The scene is beautiful! I think it has a tad much blue still in the mountains... I hope you will keep working on it. If you can't get it just so... maybe a black/white conversion would do it!
