Default image java uploader destroys UTF8 metada

Hi,
I have serious problems with the default smugmug uploader as it destroys metadata (IPTC) written using UTF8. The problem concerns of czech accented characters e.g. "ěščřžýáíď" etc. So far I haven't found any smugmug uploader that works correctly.
