We were water skiing at Lake Havasu last week when we spotted this guy on the ridge. He came down for a drink and didn't seem the slightest bit bothered by our boat. It was dumb luck that I had my 70-200 f2.8 with me.

Wow, excellent shots. You don't get too many opportunities to see these big horn sheep. Nice.

    What a great opportunity!!

If I may offer a suggestion, the first photo is exposed pretty well, but most of the others are overexposed just a bitand thus you loose some detail. You may be able to correct this with photo editing. I would give it a try and I think your good pictures will be even better.

Thanks for the input and I agree with you completely. The sun is so bright there it's hard not to get overexposed. I did take a few "bracketed" shots (in RAW) so I'll take another look at those to see if I can use the underexposed shots from the group.

    Thanks again.

RxRick, what are you using for your photo editing program?

    Thanks, Ron

I tried a couple of things. See what you think...

    Before-

    After

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    933802933_dTtr6-XL.jpg

    And a last before

    932786927_U6Gn8-XL.jpg

    And after

I've been staring at them too long now and I can't tell if there's any improvement.

Nice job Rick. You pulled out lots more detail.

BTW, the reason the sheep don't mind you being so close is because you had a boat load (literally) of fine looking women for the sheep to enjoy. :D

BTW, since you are an Apple guy, you should try Aperture 3. deal.gif

Thanks Scott. Looking at them fresh this morning I can see the difference, especially for the last two.

And yes, hanging out with my nieces in bikinis does not suck.

Sorry for the late reply Rick.

IMHO the second attempt looks much better!

Geeze, great sighting on that guy! And it's nice to see one looking so fat and healthy when the land looks dry and barren.
