Hi Everyone,
I'm travelling for the next couple of weeks and didn't expect to be able to participate this week, but here I am! I'm on a borrowed laptop (definitely not a calibrated monitor) and I'm not even sure if the color is right on the photo or not.

I'd love some feedback if this will work for "Stripes." Unfortunately, I will not be able to reshoot this. This is my last evening at my Mom's and we leave in the morning. I have other images from this set that I might be able to play with if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Sherry, I spent a long time looking at this image...so many interesting things to look at. I love the variety of stripes and the theme that connects them all together. One thing I noticed that I would suggest is the blue bottom-right corner. Do you have one that can be cropped to exclude this? It's not a big detractor from the rest of the image though. Ok, I looked again and if I were going to be really picky, the wrinkles in the flag could be cloned out or smoothed somehow? I feel like this is a VERY strong image and am envious that you've nailed it so quickly. : )

i like the idea and the color works. but to be honest this image is missing drama. it can be very strong if you can shoot it on uniform or some dramatic angle with something interesting in the background or something. if i were you i'd take the concept and run with it =c)

    Thanks Tammy & Pyro.

I agree about the wrinkles on the flag. When we were looking through the images, I told my Mom that I didn't like them. She offered to iron the flag so I could try again this morning. We'll be busy trying to pack & leave so I don't know if I'll have a chance to reshoot or not. I may have to try to clone those wrinkles out (which means I'm in trouble because my skills in that area are poor indeed).

I have a couple of 'plain background' shots of the rank patch, medal, & ribbons. I have another idea of background to overlay them on, but again, I'm travelling and don't know if I'll get the chance to act on that idea. ne_nau.gif

My Dad was in the Air Force, served in Vietnam, and retired in 1974. He passed away 2 years ago from cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange during the war. I miss him greatly. Unfortunately, his uniforms are long gone so I can't try that idea.

    Thanks again.

If you blow the image up 200 or 300% and use a small brush to clone with .. you can set the opacity down to like 60% and then clone tiny portions at a time til you get it like you want to look. :)

Scratch that idea. I had thought of something similar using my husband's insignia. :D This is much better than what I was thinking of.

    I like this a lot. clap.gif

Nice idea and shot - I'm not sure about the wrinkles... they may add value to the story,
but in this case, I would make the image look like "old"... headscratch.gif

Thanks, everyone. Sorry it took me a while to express my thanks. We are vacationing at a cabin in the mountains and we haven't had internet access.

I really appreciate the feedback on this image. I should make it back home before this challenge ends, so I'll have my internet & photoshop back and be able to work on this image a little bit. I'll try it with and without the wrinkles. Tatiana, I like the idea of making this shot look old! I'll try that when I get home.

    Thanks again!
