At the skate park

Street shooting is something that I am very uncomfortable with, but hope to become more comfortable with. I found myself shooting a boring soccer match, with a skate park within reach of the 300mm lens.

I also like these ones, although they are unconventional:

I like the last two because they are different.

I agree. There are too many distracting background elements in the others (for my taste). The last two are cleaner. And unique.

Second last one is the winner for me. Unique composition and much stronger subject.

Thanks all - glad to see that I wasn't out to lunch liking the non traditional ones.

For the first three, I actually thing that the background elements are the subjects - the young man 'smoking' and the younger boys watching in awe - rather than the skater/biker himself.

    Cool!

I agree that the last two were my faves. To me the color is a little too saturated. I also think that you "sneaking up" on them with the 300mm was a good trick as it allowed people to be unfettered.

Nice action here, but unfortunately the compression of the 300 mm lens seems to take the action and excitement out of it.
