Is it possible to change the duration to less than 5 seconds? Can't seem to make it "stick" during the show.

    Likewise.
Two seconds would suit me better but it won't change for me either - thought I was "doing it wrong" - any solutions known?

I take it you are talking about the slideshow in Photoshop? If so, yes it is possible. Depending on version of Photoshop you are using, change the value by opening Dreamweaver and edit the code as follows by opening:
    Adobe > Photoshop >
    Presets > Web Photo Gallery
    > Choose the style you are using
    > Subpage.htm > in html editor
    change the value (number)
of the time value in 'met-equiv refresh'.
In v.CS I beleive you can do the same but in v.CS2 the code is a little more coplex and I'll have to have a play with it before advising.:uhoh

i'm guessing you're referring to the slideshow option within smugmug. yes, you can change the duration to less than five seconds.. i just tried again, 1 sec, 2 sec, 5, 10 etc all work fine for me. if you continue to have difficulty, please pop an email off to help@smugmug.com thanks :D

Highlight the number in the box, then type in the new number and it will replace it. I will be changing the code so that it is easier to update and change in the future.

    Maybe it's a dog thing.
Thanks Andy and JT. My smugmug site still hangs on 5 seconds in Slideshow. Whether I highlight and change the number, or try the shortcuts "-:" the number changes but the timing does not change. Maybe after you've made the small adjustment you mentioned this will trigger it to respond. It's not major with me, I just thought if people were looking for their dog in a 200+ gallery they might "switch off" if they can't speed it up. (I can't separately name every runner, too many).

I've also been having problems changing the duration to something different that 5 seconds. Whenever I highlight the number, the highlighting disappears before I can change it.

When I saw the suggestion to do it in pause mode I thought that was the answer, but this doesn't seem to make a difference for me. The highlighting still disappears immediately after doing it.

Hmmm.....I have the identical problem. Attempting to type in any number whether paused or playing does not work - it always reverts to 5 seconds.

HOWEVER when I use the minus key shortcut, the duration successfully changes and the numerical value shows correctly in the box to tell you how many seconds.

    I also use IE 6.0.2800.1106 and Win2K (5.00.2195 SP4).

    Try the munis key.

    Cheers,

Fantastic!! That solves the problem!!! Using the + and - keys work for me also, and the good thing is that you don't even have to click the cursor inside the duration box. Rather, as soon as the slideshow starts, you can start hitting the + or - to increase or decrease the duration of each slide. AND, throughout the slideshow, you can use these keys directly to affect duration EVEN IF the slideshow toolbelt is not showing on the screen.

Thanks alot for passing along your discovery!!!

........now for a challenge. How do you change the default for "Captions" in slideshow to be "ON"???
