Just a fly on a wet leaf

Was outside in between rain showers today, and it is really to breezy to be of much use for macro photography.

The light is awful, flat, dull, uninspiring, so I had to take the ringflash out with me if I was to get any decent contrast to anything.

Started off taking a few shots of a rain-soaked rose, but in all truth, it left me feeling as flat as the light (though some heavy PP may make something usable) so I went around the bushes until I spotted a fly sat on the tip of a leaf on the variegated laurel. I had to be very careful, as it was a good foot and a half in from the outer edges of the shrub, so the tripod legs kept pushing the branches and that made positioning quite difficult, not mention slow, as each movement could disturb my intended prey.

Anyway, managed to get in close enough to get sharp focus on the eyes, and took just two photographs, and here is the one I have processed for you to look at.

C&C as always appreciated.
