Had the idea right away. Unfortunately, it took me a few sleepless nights to catch a keeper, since the water temp. has gotten too warm for them during the days.

Love it. I like the brown stripes in the table contrasting with the blue fish. Did you eat 'im?

Laughing.gif, I thought of that but knew I would never catch one.

Great photo! I love the rod and lure in there!

It's cleaned, and stuffed with herbs and aromatics, and will go, whole, on the grill this evening. Add a bottle of white and an early bedtime and I will stop thinking bad things about Sean for making me miss last night's sleep. :)

Great image! But, the reel is so interesting that it draws my eye and then the rod leads me right out of the photo on the bottom right.

the wood is such a beautiful contrast with the gorgeous fish!

Instead of cursing Sean, I'd be thanking him for forcing me out to do something I love to do anyway!!

    Two new version for comparisons:

    A labeled one:
    940200566_Js8EW-L.jpg

    And a B&W one:

Of the three I prefer the original.
I find the writing distracting & the b&w loses the wonderful tones of the fish & the wood. If I might suggest desaturating the reel just a tad to make it less eye catching.

I'd stick with the first one...the colors are wonderful. I don't think the reel detracts or leads my eye out at all, because it's on the inside of the pole. I love that first image. Enjoy your dinner!

Thanks. The reel has to stay. To me, it's part of the story. I've used that reel for 10 yrs to catch these fish. Of course, it's on a 10ft 6in pole, so it's hard to include in the composition any other way.

Challenge or not, this one is being printed on watercolor paper. Can't wait to see the texture.

Just gorgeous. Wonderfully laid out story!
it may be my monitor, but does the lure go soft on its right side (or maybe it's due to the red color?). Everything is BEAUTIFULLY sharp (including the hook), but my eye senses something in the lure.

    Regardless. this is simply beautiful!

Laughing.gif So did I and was curious to know how it was going to fit the theme!

Love your first color photo. Lighting, comp, and the wood grain in the background. Really nice.

    Nice catch (pun always intended).

Mine too. That's the one that I am going to print on canvas or watercolor paper. I want to work on it for awhile and see if I can get the letters to look like they're antiqued gold leaf painted on to the wood.

Hardest part about going fishin' in the wee hours is having to leave the camera behind in the truck. Inevitably, I am wading out waist deep and there is a killer sunrise. But having lost one camera to the sea, I now know better.

I definitely prefer the color photo, the warm colors and the overall sharpness of the presentation. I found I looked at the fish first and the details later. Well done! Wish I'd been there for dinner;. I'd even bring the wine. JustPeachy2

Before pulling out the fillet knife, I did pull out the macro lens. Got some closeups on the face and the stripes. Although I had this shot composed in my head even before I went to catch the fish, I was curious. Up close, the stripes are actually pretty faint. You see more of the scale pattern.
