So what does "stripped in" mean exactly?

Hi guys/gals,

I frequently read speedhunters.com and noticed in this post, one of their contributing photographers mentions "stripping in" portions of the images. Trying to figure out what that actually means. Is it literally replacing the object with another object, such as a dramatic sky or what? Example:

Taking say a full length shot of a model on a seamless and placing it onto another background would be an example of “stripping in the model”. So yes, its replacing or inserting an object from one image into another.

Then there’s the old school prepress process of stripping negs (one for each of the four colors) to print on an analog press.
