The FinePix F300EXR is a pretty significant camera because it has both contrast based AF "and" phase detect AF (like dSLRs use).

There are some other cool things about the camera but the AF system looks really interesting.

    Yup that AF system is the most interesting thing I have seen this year by far.

    Embedding phase detect AF sensors into the actual chip, this could be huge for the large sensor mirrorless cameras, imagine something as small as a EPL-1 with D3 type AF.....it could be just a few generations away if this actually works combined with EVF advances all I can say is the next 5-10 years will be exciting for photography.
