Just got Canon 70-200 II

A big brown truck just dropped off a Canon 70-200 II and of course I don't really have time to try it out . But I did try a few quick shots in the back yard. I was able to shoot this a 135mm and 1/50 sec... during a lull in the breeze. Looks like the IS works pretty well.

I also figured out there is a difference between regular and horizontal/vertical IS.

So far it's at least as awsome as it is heavy...

Any idea as to the huge price difference between the I and the II?

I'd guess it's due to the more sophisticated IS and a differerent lens design. The new one has a florite element and 19 intead of 18 groups, but the same number of pieces of glass.
