I went out to my new favorite site today. This site is only accessible by kayak. There is a place in the Hood Canal in Washington state where the Skokomish River empty's into it. It is at this point that there is about 2 miles of small sand barbs and oyster beds. Hundreds of them. You have to paddle through about a half mile of shallow water anywhere from 2 feet to 6 inches. You MUST do this when the tide is coming in or you will get stuck out there for hours. If you try to get out and walk, you will berry yourself up to your waist in mud. The light was harsh but it was a heck of an experiance!

Outstanding photos!! I really enjoyed these and would love to visit that area. All are great, but I really like #5!! Great close up.

These are remarkable photos. My favorites are #7 (how the birds are gazing at each other) and #12 (angles and hues in the wings). Thanks!

Great pictures, I like #1 & #4 just because of the look on their faces. All of them are great shots

Thanks everyone. I hope to get out there this weekend when we have some sun. Hopefully the water won't be as choppy either. Thank God for IS lol

Wicked shots. Your efforts were rewarded. Looks like there are some buildings in some of those shots, so no other way in? headscratch.gif.

Kdog, no, no other way in. The houses you see are right at the rivers mouth and there is no access from there. Even if they let you walk out from their property you would only get about 30 feet out before you were knee deep in mud.

Fantastic captures. Very cool you have that eagle haven close enough to visit when ever you like.

I like #4. He looks like he's ticked off that he got his pants wet.rolleyes1.gifrofl

Great set of photos. Looks like you've found a good spot there. I don't know how you shoot out of a kayak. I've tried it and it's OK for critters on the bank but I can't do BIFs. They always fly over the wrong shoulder ne_nau.gif

Keep shootin' and postin'. No eagles for me so far this season so I'll just have to enjoy yours.
