Dragonfly in flight attempts

Some attempts at shots of darter dragonflies in flight. The first egg-laying pair shots really upset the lcoal male darter "pondmaster" who proceeded to harry them in the egg laying (that action was too fast for me to stand a hope of getting any shots). First 3 shots with a Tamron 90 and fairly heavily cropped. Last 3 shots with a 200L with ext tubes and less heavily cropped. All using MF

Image 1 is the most impressive to me. Dof could have been a major problem here but you have captured it well.
All the images are sharp, well exposed and well composed.
Great shots and thanks for showing them.

Phil yes they do tend to do momentary hovers but I I've not yet found the best way of trying to shoot these. eg I was just using single shot MF as that's what I'm used to using. Will have to try AF with the 200mm to see if it picks them up ok.
