Shot at mid-afternoon, wanted a soft, almost shadowless effect. Used a single 43" shoot thru umbrella, Vivitar 285 at 1/16, camera left.
Appreciate any comments, thanks in advance
Brewster

well you got the "almost shadowless effect". to my taste though the light on her face is a touch flat though exposed well. also the skin tones look a bit muddy. fianlly I think your colors need a bit of pop/contrast. btw could you post a larger size?

i think a happy medium between the two (as far as saturation) would be good.

I do not know - is it me or the photo is a bit not sharp? I like the pose.

It definitely looks a little soft to me as well.

It seems to me the focus point is off a bit and maybe a bit of DOF weirdness going on. The right eye/side seems much sharper/more in focus than the left eye/side. Actual subject left and right, not right and left as looking at it.

Is it possible you were using a f2.8 or 4 setting? I'm guilty (constantly) of having one eye sparkle and one quite soft because those settings give you almost no DoF... Just a guess.

    it was shot @ f/6.3
but even @ f/4 (or 2.8) its easy to get everything in focus

May I ask your secret for wide DoF at 2.8? That would be very useful to me...

That shot is a little soft, here's one in the same series (SOOC), again shot at 6.3, 1/25 with a Pentax 16-45 f/4. Also, the Pentax 200D is a cropped camera.
