My First Hummingbird Shots

They buzz around our yard all day, but I'm learning that they are REALLY hard to take pictures of. Nothing special, but they're some of my first attempts. Both taken handheld with a 7D and EF 100-400 and cropped.

Nice shots! Are the flowers in the second pic cannas? I am a canna fan, but haven't seen any with that many blooms at once.

The bottom pic was severely back-lit, but I added fair mount of fill light in Lightroom and it really seemed to help. The top pick was pure luck... I was walking up the driveway, on my way to get a beer for a neighbor, and looked up and found him just sitting there begging to have his picture taken.

Nope, not Cannas, they are some variety of Phormium. Is you state (WI) still so saturated? I depart for Oshkosh tomorrow and I starting thing I need to bring some form of raft with me.
