Very neat place to visit. Highly recommended. Paul will be there to greet
you with his clever personality.
He will chat your ear off all day long if you like :D and readily let you know
he loves his picture taken.

I never realized there were different wood statues of Paul Bunyan. There is on in MN that I've seen. So I had to google to see what I found and found this ...

I like how you shot this looking up. How tall was he?

    Nice link Mary. Pretty informative.
Lots of the details about him are there and also here
at the Trees Of Mystery web site. I think the article written at their site
was pen'd by the very man that speaks from this Paul Bunyan to the
folks that come to take in the sites and such at Trees of Mystery. Just
one seriously nice fellow with a great voice. Very witty and clever.

I believe Paul stands something like 50 foot high. His ax 25 foot high.
Not sure wood is the main construction. At least not now, I am fairly
certain. His weight plus that of "Babe" the ox is well over 800,000 pounds.
That is one hell of a lot of weight for wood so I tend to think steel and
fiberglass. Perhaps gunite (like whats used for swimming pools) for the outer shell.

I liked the write up they had on the link to Trees of Mystery. It's a place I'd like to visit someday. So...Babe is a boy ox. I didn't know that. Learned something new today :D

That is pretty strange Mary. And stranger yet, at least for me, is that
I didn't put it together myself until you mentioned.
Not sure I'll ever get over that bit of knowledge. rolleyes1.gif
For now I'll just have to laugh about it until I can be brave enough to be
really concerned where my head is at. :D Or wheres its been for that matter. mwink.gif

Yes, Babe is a boy ox.
The web site for Trees of Mystery
will tell you Babe as shown here is not quite anatomically correct. Okedokkie. :D
And I have further learned that the Babe statue in Minnesota was fixed so not to offend the
    ladies sensibilities. Details details.
I won't get up that way and offend the ladies. :D:D:D Not even close

I'm done reading about bout Paul and Babe for now and I closed the search
    at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bunyan
about as educated as I need to get on this topic.

    A remarkably high traffic area.

    Yep I'd say he's a boy Ox thumb.gif

Now you know...us mid-west northerners are very modest people rolleyes1.gifI didn't know they changed the Ox as to not offend some people. That's just crazy.

Interesting read -- seems he's from all over and yet no one really knows where it all started. Would be something to really investigate just for "real story" kind of facts.

Interesting story behind Paul Bunyan and his buddy the Blue Ox. I like when there is a photo that brings some history or mystery to them.
