Help - Quality of LR3 videos

I just put together my first LR slideshow and exported it to video. I tried it at the lowest resolution then at a higher one. Quick Time Player couldn't read some sizes and the quality was awful when it could be viewed in Quick Time.
Apparently, I don't have the right Quicktime on my iMac to read some of the mp4 files that LR produced for me.
I know I must be doing something wrong but can't figure out what. I can' believe that my only option is to produce really blurry videos.
I apologize if this has been covered already. I did a search and came up with nothing but that doesn't mean it isn't there. :dunno
