Been a while since I've played in the challenges, but had an idea this afternoon that I believe fits the theme and am curious if anyone would offer any last minute c&c:

I like the idea. But I'm not really seeing these as stripes. Maybe a different set of books with dark and light more blatantly alternated.

I've tried two different compositions now to see if either works better. I think next time I need to get an earlier start ;)

And for the fun of it, #4:

I find #2 most interesting. The bottom left corner is not quite there. Maybe try adding a couple more books and continue the rotation. Or have a flat white or flat black surface.

You might also try increasing the contrast a tad.

I think regardless of the composition, no matter what you do, the text is the problem. They dominate the image and take away from anything that says stripes. Perhaps something different in the last few hours that is left?

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you here. Thanks for the comments!

You could try switching the camera angle to the top of the books, with the spiral stairsteps showing a bit of the covers of the books to make the stripes. By the top of the books, I mean not the front cover, but the top showing the pages.

A thank you is in order to all who have provided feedback or thought about this image. I must say lkbart, I really like that idea and wish that I had started earlier to allow myself enough time to execute on that idea. Because I like that idea so much, I consider #2 to be incomplete and thus did not enter it into competition. #3 and #4 are not my favorites, so I picked #1. Next challenge, I need to get started earlier!

Again -- thanks to all for the feedback.
