#1 is cool to me, but could have been killer if you had drug the shutter to show some wheel spin instead of freezing it.

Thanks Erbe. But how do you do that? Slow SS?

You have close down your aperture which allows less light in. So in turn, you have to have a slower shutter speed for a proper exposure. I shoot only in manual but you can shoot in shutter priority and choose a speed around 125. When I shoot my panning shots, I like 125. Good luck

    Thanks Erbe.

In this shot there was very little lateral movement, so panning doesn't work. this is smoking the tires to heat them before they start, to get them sticky. They move maybe 3' and there is chatter, which might blur edges with slow SS.

I was more interested in tire deformation like here:

Hmmm.... SS125, I'll have to try that. Thanks

#1 is OK, but #3 is it for me, great capture and I think the B&W works well, it is a timeless capture. I think coming at you allways trumps going away. There are a lot of ways to slow your shutter to get some motion blurr. Play with those settings. Me, I shoot mostly aperture priority so I wll just change aperture to get the speed I want. If I get too much DOF I start changing ISO. Play with your camera, get some bad ones so you know how to get the great ones. Love #3.
