Durango, CO
So the wife and I went for a relaxing week to Durango, CO back in late April. It really wasn't the best time to go because it was in between seasons there and wasn't much going on. However, we still had a great time and were plenty relaxed. I can't wait to go back sometime during fall when there would be a lot of colors. As for these pics, there isn't a whole lot of color. I'm just getting around to upload them to my site and thought I would share. Enjoy

During our train ride, I scoped out a spot to come back to the next day to shoot the train coming at me. This is a bit on the scary side, as I parked my car on the side of the road and hiked about 3/4 mile into the forest to get to my spot. I realized when I was halfway there that I had forgot my phone in the car. So, if something happened to me out here, I was up the creek without a paddle and I had nothing to defend myself with against wild animals. Plus I was crouching about 3 foot from the edge of a cliff. It probably wasn't my smartest move, but I was really wanting this shot and I think it came out really well.

I took a drive to the other side of the mountains to an old mining town called Silverton. I can tell you, this place hasn't changed much since back in its day. Here is a picture of it from above.

I learned that trying to hand hold a camera for a 5 frame burst shot to make an HDR is pretty dang hard to do. This is the only one that I halfway captured well.

On our way out of town we came across this wild herd of Elk "I believe they are anyway." They were a bit camera shy and took off over this fence when I walked up to photograph them.
