Shots of the evening
I used the monopod, :rofl . And shot at 800 until it hit the point of rediculous. Then went to 1600. I walked almost to the end of Pitt street bridge thing, a walking area. Not my favorite birding area, but I had/have a fever and didn't want to go far from home. I was at 5.6. The EV drove me a bit nuts, I am just not used to adapting for that.
These are Snowy shots, they were shot past the point of "available" light in most minds. And the tiny snowy was half way to the other side of the world, but here they are. Some egret shots from earlier were better. But I worked these up, it is too late for more work.
I am not having to do as much post w these shots as I was doing. Thank doG!
I will try to get you something better before I hang it up. I posted a blended shot of the back of my church with a shot of the sky from over the city. I am just using this lens, so..............not getting the wide stuff.

I became fascinated with this little guy. I kept waiting for him to fly, but I think he had gone to bed...........this looks like a little Hobbit type home to me. And on second thought, one reason there were so few birds is because the tide was totally out. I think if he were to stay in this refuge, he would drown. And that bird can't do that. He is my staple of the area.
I think he might be a night heron. This is a crop, above.
Below is how I saw him................ with the lens. In real life, he looked like maybe a dirty kleenex. Was desperate so checked him out w the lens, and surprise, he was a bird!

I think you all will like them better, at least a few of them. The tide was in, the sun was out, albeit behind a light cloud cover, but plenty of shutter speed.
We will see.

The last shot is he best. You should do well with the new lens when you shoot in bette rlight and w/o the fever. Get better soon and no more shooting until you are feeling better.
