Recently took a trip to the Saratoga Battlefield National Park in upstate NY. This is the site of the first major win for the Americans in the War for Independence. I don't usually apply a lot of extreme processing techniques, but this photo seemed to call for it -
It's the artillery line at the British fortified position called the Balcarres Redoubt. Basically they moved in and took over Freeman's farm (he was a loyalist so wasn't too put out although he lost everything later). They built a log and earth work about 375 yards long and 12-14 feet high and named it after Lord Balcarres who was the light infantry commander. Ultimately though, they lost the Battle of Saratoga and the Americans pushed them out of the Hudson river valley and prevented General Burgoyne from marching on Albany.
Absolutely fascinatingly preserved bit of history. More shots in the Gallery as I get them processed. Thanks for checking it out. Comments welcome as usual.
