Ya got me on the ID for this Hairy Flappy Thing. It was hanging upside down on a weed next to the horse's shelter.

9x16 view - wish I hadn't clipped the tip of his wings! :rolleyes

Getting a closer look... Cool teal eye under that hair.

And from the marsh this evening, 'it was a rock lobster!'. He was hiking between ponds, and was coming up out of a trench so I got a nice cheater shot that looks like I was near ground level. :D

I like this angle best, but wish that closer eye was more in the plane of focus!

Thanks for checking out my set!

Don't often see pics of either of these ! - wonderful captures.
Think #1 is an antlion adult.

bowdown.gif Great lead on the bug, Brian! bowdown.gif I did a little looking from that hint and found an ID that fits: Giant Ant Lion - Vella fallax.

Now I'll be looking for some of the larvae.

The crawdad sighting was neat, usually I see only their remains after the herons fish them out of the pond and eat them.
