A relatively big spider weaved her web next to our office parking log during the night.

She was resting in the sun

Hanging comfortably in her brand new web:

Little eight-legged beauty:

When suddenly sprinkler system went off:

I left her at that:

    Technical info
Shot with my new Canon 20D. Some pictures are shot with Canon 50mm f/1.8, some with Tamron AF 70-300 4-5.6 LD.

Thus far I'm still finding it *extremely* difficult to focus. DOF seems to be paper thin even when I step down the lens a lot. And even though my shutter speed was measured in humdreds I still got a lot of blurred pictures (I didn't upload all:-)

Can somebody PLEASE explain me how one can get such shallow DOF with f-values being around 16..20?

    TIA

... it does not:-( Prolly was not using it right. Almost all the shots I took with 50 were OOF beyond repair...

I checked the EXIF on one shot and it said 50mm, so I figured...

The ones you uploaded look really nice. Were you autofocusing or manual?

I tried both AF/MF. Mostly MF on telemacro, mostly AF on 50mm.

    Thanks! I'm still learning...
