I left work early Friday afternoon, and spent the next twenty hours on Rainier for sunset, night, and sunrise. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

I really like the two long-exposure shots of the Emmons Glacier. The first one looks (to me) a bit canted clockwise though. Something about it was bothering me, and I think that's it.

Oh, these are excellent, Ron. The black and white is just super, and I'm not usually big fan of them. Hard to pick a favorite otherwise. The reflections are all just great, and I really like the stars in #3.

Just gorgeous. I agree that the black and white is fantastic - heck, they all are.

Great set Ron. I love the composition and light in #1. The placement of the mountain in the lake is great. I'm also drawn to #3 & 4 with the night shots and stars.

Too funny- I contemplated doing something similar with sunrise at Sunrise and then sunset in Spray Park but the forecasts changed and I opted for just sunset at Spray Park. The star trail reflections in Tipsoo Lake in #4 are cool.

all very good stuff, Ron, but i'm curious how you got stars to appear in the trees and on the mountain in #3... ;)

As of Saturday (the 31st) there weren't any. I think the snow only just recently melted from the perimeter of the lakes.

Gorgeous set, Ron! But as much as #1 rocks, it almost feels a little unbalanced. I think you need something in the foreground on the left to balance it out. You know, like another photographer or something. Got any like that? rolleyes1.gif

Seriously though, I spent the weekend in what we in San Diego call mountains (peaks at only 5,800 ft) and had a horrible time find worthwhile comps. Gave me a whole new level of respect for the awesome shots you come home worth. Nice work! thumb.gif
