How to remove the pole(umbrella)

Hi All;
I was down @ the Harbor Front (Toronto Caribana) took a pic of the instrament this fella was playing, I am trying to clone the umbrella pole, but for some reason i cannot get it to work properly (bad steady hands) any idea how to get around that

When I first looked at the image I thought that it would take a great deal of work and that the part where the strings are hidden would be very difficult. But just for fun, I tried the CS5 content-aware fill on that section and the results were excellent. I tried a few other sections and while the results weren't terrific, they would be fairly easy to touch up. I think the key to success here is to break it up into four or five sections and do each one separately. Work at 200% magnification and keep changing the clone source as needed.
