I was fortunate enough to cover a Poker Run at Lake of the Ozarks for our local boating group that benefited Operation Homefront. I was flying in a Robinson R44 and was using a Nikon D80 with 70-200 lens. Here's a sampling of the many shots I took and any feedback is appreciated as I can only get better. Gives you an idea of the caliber of people and boats that came out for a very worthwhile cause. Lighting can be harsh at times and I was shooting quickly before chasing the next boat down. There were 112 boats with over 400 people participating. We were able to donate $14,600 to Operation Homefront.

#8 is a 46' Black Thunder with an approximate weight of 13,000 lbs. It takes some power to push a boat of that magnitude out of the water like that. The owner of the boat, who is driving, is owner of BMax, which is the manufacturer of the lower unit. That is the part between the motor and prop basically. That part has to hold together under such extreme conditions. We actually talked after the run when he was shown the pic on an iphone and I asked about the landing. He said it wasn't bad since the boat was pretty much parallel with the water.

For those interested there are quite a few more pics on my site.

    Thanks for looking,
    glenn
