I'm in a China trip now and my sister asked me, who knows nothing about camera, to buy a cheap USB cable for her Canon EOS D60. But I find such cables in China are also not cheap. The two are have been the cheapest i found online:http://www.tinydeal.com/usb-cable-for-canon-pxb6t--p-778.html and http://www.martgreat.com/canon-eos-d60-usb-cable.html. The prices are different but i can't see any difference in themselves. Besides, some other sites sell much cheaper EOS D30 USB cables whose ports are the same as ordinary MP3 players'. So anyone is to tell me which to buy? I don't like this sister very much, so I are not gonna look like a fool before her.

Why not just use a cheap card reader?

Cheap cables are often cheap because of their cheap design and cheap construction. I recommend good quality cables with adequate shielding, quality wire, sturdy and precise connectors, and strain relief.

I have no familiarity with the cables in those links, but I have always had good results from cables purchased from Belkin, especially the higher grade cables with gold connectors and higher cost. Tell your sister that cheap cables can mean poor signals and short life, so buy the better cables for better results.

I agree with MT Stringer that a card reader attached to the computer is a much better solution in that it saves the camera from unnecessary powerups, which reduce the camera lifetime, and it is generally a faster and more reliable transfer of image files. It's what I do and it's much more reliable than using the camera and a USB cable.

(P.S. I'm not sure which USB connector the Canon D60 uses. If your sister really wants to proceed with a camera-to-computer cable she should locate a store that stocks Belkin cables and then bring the camera to the store so they can match the cables correctly.)

I got mine out to compare and as near as I can tell these look like my Canon one. I am hanging on to mine just in case (and if I ever sell who knows if buyer would want) BUT I agree with the others that say go with a card reader!
