Nice captures Brian. The Hover-flies are the most cooperative ones I have taken images of , all other flies are pretty skittish.

Thanks - yes you are right re the hoverflies especially if they are feeding.

Lovely captures Brian. The beauty of these subjects is that they visit marvelous places for backgrounds too.

Oh wow, hard to pick a favorite, but the image with two hovers is really cool. Really like the image with the blue flower and the crop of the yellow flower, too. The rest of them are just regular old super fantastic. :-)

Only realised when taking the last shot that the foliage of Nigella flowers (love in the mist) actually keeps away larger pollenators. Some of the Scaevas tried to get to the flowers and couldn't do it, also makes it a bit hard to get a clean shot with a camera.
