I'm finally winding this project down...

Here are some shots from the fort barracks, and such.

Fascinating study. I really like #10 and the tubular perspective.

Just a terrific, terrific body of work. As I've said, Randy, you've done a wonderful job of presenting this old fort with a real feel for the way it actually was. I've been to the fort many times but your pictures have shown me features I may have missed, and, more importantly, imparted to me a greater appreciation for what life there was like. Your PP work here, I think, was what made the day.

Very kind of you to say those things Tom!

As you know, this is just how I see the world I try hard while shooting to obtain a perspective that "I" like, and most times I won't leave that to luck. Then, I try and shoot it with a particular processing in mind at the time of the shot. Sometimes this does not matter, but many times it makes a marked difference in obtaining your image goals.

Anyway, I'm pleased that my images from a great location like this, gets a good report from someone whom has spent detailed time at the same location

No idea how long it took to build the fort. I'm still wondering about the brick "X" in the floor of the first 3 shots. That would have taken a lot of extra work to lay that in, wonder why? Aesthetics, engineering feature, etc...

Randy,

The " X " in the floor you refer to above is indeed an engineering feature. Note that at the center of the X you will see a drain. laying the bricks end-to-end leading to this drain facilitates the flow of water to that drain.

I figured you'd know. That was my guess, because that would have been way to much extra work while building a fort, just for aesthetics.

In your last photo there looks like an eye on the brick to the right...spooky.

I missed the other parts to his series. Will have to wonder on back and take a look at them .
