Since I don't have the cash and won't anytime soon to buy a modded rebel for IR, I figured I'd play around and ty to fake it in PS. This is real basic playing with the channel mixer in monochrome, but I'd like to get some feed back.

Do any of you have techniques that you like for this?

    Thanks Fred.

The true test will be coming soon. I'm heading down into the hurricane that should hopefully be gone by next week and will get some palm tree shots to practice on. They always look nice in IR.

That's a real nice conversion. I have tried the same method as demonstrated by Scott Kelby in his CS2 book. I did not get as good results as you did. I think a lot has to do with the original picture. I'm impressed with the black in your sky and the white in the bushes. Very nice contrast. Good job. I too like it better than the original.

    My adventures in DIr

    Using this technique

I liked the results, the technique is fairly simple, and allows a lot of modification...Interestingly enough it ends up being kind of true to IR in one respect, I DIr'ed a photo with fake plants and they didn't turn red!

These were scanned from 5 year expired PRT 100 pull processed medium format film shot in a Minolta Autocord TLR.

The palm trees in this one are fake, and did NOT turn red like foliage does with IR because of IR wavelength absorbtion.
