C&C appreciated.

Handheld (I think this bug is related to a robber fly, but not really sure):

These were on the tripod, but I was tilted in, so only using two legs:

    Hi Chester! :-)

I like most of the angles of your subjects except possibly #1, where he's looking away. The others have an intereactive feel that is nice.

For C&C, I'd suggest adding some light with your flash. It would make those first photos pop. Natural light looks pretty good on the bee. However, bee shots do have some noise... Are those cropped much?

Anyways, nice to see your work over here. I saw these posted on FT forum, too. :-)

    Cheers,
    Michelle

    Lovely series of shots.
Think the first fly is a bee fly (Bombyliidae)
Like the last 4 bee shots but the framing either seems a bit tight or the composition is odd - eg composition in last 2 seems more about the flower than the bee ?

Thanks both of you. I am going to play with the cropping some, as suggested elsewhere. These were just last minute shots when my 5yo wanted to go take some. Was expecting flowers, but not insects on them. ;)

    nice shots!

Agree with the previous poster about the flash, it would get you some more pop and possibly more depth of focus thumb.gif

last 2 bee shots best, but need more room on right hand side, not the left!
