The noise fits with the color toning, the composition is strong, and the lighting is spot on. The stuff in the background pulls my eye a way a little, but it still returns to the subject. This is just a very strong image overall. I might selectively blur the background a little bit, but I'm not sure. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback. In the original, the background was very dark. I kind of like the cactus because it puts him in context- outdoor venue in Texas- but I may try it blurred and see if I like it.
This was taken the moment he became aware that I was aiming in his direction.
If you were going for a traditional portrait, I'd say that there was too much contrast between the sides of his face. But, I love the grain and B&W. The contrast reminds me of Tri-X when you pushed it. This could be right out of the 60's. Nice shot!

Definitely don't overdo the blur. The context is great. On the other hand, I had a lot of trouble telling that the plants in the background were cacti. I could tell they were outdoor plants of some sort, but there wasn't quite enough detail to tell exactly. I would just play with it a little. If it looks good, go for it. If you do a little blurring, you'll need to re-add some noise to make it look right.
