I don't expect I'll be shooting too many more boxing events, so I decided to make this one count:

wow... as always, those are some fantastic shots. No more boxing? Moving on to other events?

    Thank you.

No, I've just decided to pare down what I shoot to guaranteed paydays. I've shot 40 events in the past 12 months and I'm getting burned out. I don't expect to shoot any more- or at least significantly fewer events- because most promoters don't/won't pay for photography.

    Excellent work,

sad to hear about the continuing trend towards no money in photography.

I'm scaling way back on events this year too.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I guess I can't single out promoters though- historically most have never paid anyhow, but now sales are down from the fighters, which was my main flow of income in this business. Part of that is based on the economy, and unfortunately part of that is photographers acting unprofessional and giving work away.

Needless to say, this is a difficult facet of the photography industry to make money in. Ironically, I make my best money at the smaller shows- the last kickboxing event I made out rather well. I'm also hired to shoot pro wrestling. MMA and boxing- not so much. MMA generates me a few sales here and there but the aforementioned "photographers" are ruining it, and boxing- paydays, while they do happen, are few and far between.
