Radio Slaves

I've been toying with the idea of radio slaves for some time now. A dear friend and fellow photographer passed away and her kids gave me one of her old kits. The kit they gave me was this same kit but mine was labeled Jianisi PT-04TM http://compare.ebay.com/spid/47984844?fl=220640970536<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=srf
I love the way this works, but the receiver for the flash seems a bit fragile and since my flash is top heavy, I'm not sure I want to use such a thing. I have to buy these things in pieces, so I want to make sure they are usable. Do I need to use this kit together or can I use the 4 channel transmitter on the camera, with a 4 channel receiver on the flash? The receiver I'm looking at buying is a different brand, but I think might wind up being this one. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/680983-REG/Interfit_STR129_Strobies_iSync_4_Wireless.html
Will these two items work together, or do I need to find a matching pair?

I have never had a mis fire in the little over a year I have had them....almost 2 yrs I guess now.....mine have been extremely reliable and after posting the link above last night I messaged the seller to see if they were getting anymore of the 16 channels ones in as I would like to get another 4-6 receivers.
Since I started out shooting totally manual and own a top flash meter...then to keep shooting in manual is not a problem for me...it really only adds a few seconds to a shot if working with out an assistant and I am not really rushed except during a wedding......
