I don't know for how long safe lands remain safe, half of Pakistan is under flood. massive landslidings up in north, rains don't stop. This type event never happened before in Pakistan, someone was saying it is due to global warming:huh.

Yeah of course, i will go to place where flood has passed and only relief/food/ and medics are required.

Check out the last image in series it is so powerful. Yesterday babies were found closed in water coolers floating on waters!

Yes the pictures were very moving and sad. water is such a force when on the move. Even though the flood has past the is still the dangers of slides and disease. Even desperate people that might bring you harm. You and the people there are in our prayers.

I have thought about you a lot in the last few days with the terrible images on our tv. Many people are giving generously and we are hoping that it gets where it needs to go.

New rains are expected which means new flood wave. Here is image from BBC website, look at size of actual river, it is almost like a thin vein compared to size of country but it took over large part of land!



Lots of cultural and historic monuments are going to be washed away, no more stuff to see and photograph i am already feeling so down as i planned to visit places to capture some cultural images after completing studies, but when finally time came, everything is ruined. Even roads and trails to beautiful mountain ranges of Karakoram, Himalaya, Hindukush and mountains like Nanga Parbat, Rakaposhi are gone, it will take lots of time to rebuild.

I think i have to stick to my neighborhood for quite sometime but grief of poor effected people is way higher than mine, hope they survive this massive destruction.

Anyone living in a major river system has this now and again. It is the penalty for living so profusely in the lands the river enriches whenever it floods. We can blame God, global warming, or dereliction of duty from our central government. We have the same in Holland and are rich enough, fortunately, to embark on a frenzy of new flood defenses whenever it happens, which it does over and over again. Nothing much helps when the river floods which is why I live on relatively high ground.

The pictures are moving. The unwritten stories of individual tragedy immense. History will survive, although it may be buried even deeper under the new sediment.

I couldn't read and not post. Perhaps the images you couldn't capture due to the flood were not the images you're meant to capture because of the flood. Stay safe and I'll be thinking of you.

I came back yesterday from a day trip of taking relief stuff from my city to nearest neglected area. This village was very near to once strongly held areas by Talibans, and this area was in constant danger all the time. One issue solved other came.
