went to a nearby airfield on Saturday to watch a couple of planes from Paul Allen's "Flying Heritage Collection" get some exercise. they flew a Spitfire Mk Vc, and a Hurrican Mk XIIa. the weather sucked... cloudy, uniform gray overcast, and light drizzle, horrid for photography, but considering the weather in England most of the time, i suppose the airplanes felt right at home! anyway, here's the Spit... 40D, 100-400L @ 275mm, 1/800 @ f/8, +1EV...

yeah, i'd love to have had a better backdrop, but but sometimes mother nature just doesn't cooperate!

over the details to be seen.
…just the right amount of prop blur!

thanks! in the full-size version, you can actually quite clearly see the antenna wires running from the center of the roundels on the fuselage to the tail wings... thank God for AF and IS and good optics!

the shot and got caught up in it. In fact I entirely went past prob blur
which I noted later in the day when I read Wil's right there comment.
What was I thinking?
Any who, I appreciate knowing your gear and settings used. Plus you are
one lucky dog getting to be near these aircraft in the air.
British flying weather. Brian Shul (book, Sled Driver) notes having to fly
his ride over a small British airfield for a eagerly awaiting crowd. His second
guiding him into the field area through near zero visibility only to have the
clouds open just as they came over the field. Totally wowing the folks and
scaring the hell out of his second. Very cool read.
Am curious... Have you seen this Spitfire low pass video?

This one is sadly harsh.
