A couple from last week.

1. Tied to the Earth (lightening hit this lookout 10 min before we arrived...scary...flashes and buzzing throughout 3 days. I was very happy when we had 2 hours of blue skies...at night! They have a lightening stool as well. Those things are awesome! Well...in a matter of speaking. This was my first time seeing the fire lookout not buried in snow)

+1 on the Milky Way shots. No matter what you're shooting you make them look so pristine and easy. thumb.gif

#2 is one of my favs of this set as well. I just loved the cold, pouring rain. By the time I was done with the hike to camp, I think I managed to get my camera wetter than its ever been. It seems like I just keep pushing it. One day I'll just stick it in the lake herself! Laughing.gif. Well that may not be a good idea but like crammer in sienfield when they wanted to see how far the car would go before running out of gas, I may not be able to help myself.

That second shot is killer, a lot of people would be tempted to recover detail in the foreground, but the shadows are what make the shot drawing your eye to the wonderful background and foreground (shadows are not evil!). I really like the leading lines of #6 too.

I've abused my camera repeatedly in wet weather (rain, snow, waterfall spray) and it's still ticking. The biggest threat is moving it from a cold environment (mountain) to a warm one (heated car) where condensation can get inside it (best to put it in a plastic bag and let it acclimate to the temperature before taking it out). I've not followed that advice a few times and the camera wasn't functional until it dried out by itself :D

Your night shots are inspiring me to match that level of quality! I have a soft spot for astronomical shots. Now you need to polar align your camera and start tracking the sky to bring out nebula's like Orion. I thinks it's awesome how you processed the color for both dark sky shots. Very nice!
