D40x vs D3000

I already have a Nikon D40x, but 45 minutes before an engagement photo shoot, my 18-55 mm lens broke. I ran to Best Buy to get another one, but they didn't have any. I didn't want to shoot with my 55-200 lens, so I hastily bought a D3000.

I have not had time to check out the difference between the two; they seem very similar. I have noticed that the 3000 has a cleaning sensor that the D40 does not. Does anyone have anything good to say about the 3000?

I really wanted the 90, but that will have to wait now.

Thanks, more like the D60, I'd say. I did get great shots with it though.

the D3000 has the 11-point Autofocus system where the D40 only has 3. i think that's a little step up. I went from a D60 to a D90, and I really appreciate more points of focus (along with a few other upgrades).

I recently bought a D3000 as some sort of back-up for my D700 :D You might think i'm crazy, but the D3000 will do fine for the few snapshots i want to make with my family at the beach. I do not want my expensive D700 and lenses get damaged or stolen.
So the last few day's i've been playing around with my new D3000 and it works great.

    a few samples :D

i like it. good enough for what i plan to do with it and a regular insurance will cover the loss (if any)

These were the first shots I took with it. I'm pretty happy so far. Of course, the D90 would have been better.....
