Ok, I know i can buy the part to attach my Nikon to the telescope.....

what should i expect to pay for the part?

is it worth it to purchase it??

What are the images like? Im assuming it depends on how good the telescope is?

I do it with a Canon 30D and 5dMkII, as well as some P&S cameras using the appropriate t-mount-to-scope or similar and have no problems. Been shooting film and digital SLRs that way for well over 30 years now. Works well with dSLRs, but with P&S cameras its touch-and-go.

Since I use a Schmidt-Cassegrain, the bokh is doughnutty for terrestrial shots, but at the equivalent of 2000mm I am, generally, satisfied and it is worth it to me. It may or may not be worth it to you if you are willing to spend the long hours of night time and clear skies it takes for astrophotography, and plan to use it only a few times for terrestrial shots.

Don't even bother with "toy" telescopes. You need a "good" one to be satisfied.

Search Google for "digiscope" or "digiscoping". Steve's has a forum on it: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/digiscoping-digital-photomicroscopy-64/ for further info.

Your Nikon should do just fine with the appropriate telescope and adapter. Orion can help you with this: http://www.telescope.com/control/main/

Thanks for the info... Would you mind posting a few photos you have taken through the telescope?

I updated the post with another link as you were replying. I am traveling just now, so do not have access to my files. Perhaps someone else will give you some samples or, as I said, check out the link I gave you for Steve's.

Astrophotography is awe inspiring! I love just simple moon shots... but I REALLY REALLY want to get Saturn, Jupiter, and it's moons! That would be so awesome!

hgernhardtjr, please come back and share some pics!! Maybe even make a thread. I would love to see some of your work!

98olds, I may be buying a tmount and telescope soon. If I do, I'll let ya know what I got and how it works out.
