I drove 25 miles out into the country last night to get away from lights, yet still got a little light pollution. And sadly all the meteors I got were small, the larger ones avoided my lens.

I turned around and snapped one of the SW sky.

    Amazing shots, Joel!

    photosbyjd2 - Cool idea!

I'm afraid my camera is lacking the high ISO capability needed for these shots, but I did manage to get one. It was a fireball in the sky. The ground lit up as it streaked across the sky.

The colors in these shots is pretty cool. Be good to get the exposures down as you're getting a bit of rotation. That said, if you keep the shutter open less, then the chances of getting that cool streak from the meteor are lower.

i love seeing the night sky in a photo!

Thanks, Martin. Living in the sticks is challenging. We have little shopping or restaurants, bad schools, drugs, etc. But we do have clear skies. deal.gif

Wow, that's most unlucky silvereye. Sorry to hear it. I was seeing about one a minute here. Thanks for checking in.

    Hi Shimon wave.gif

That's a beautiful shot! Have you tried bringing up the shadows a bit? I've been good, and I hope you've been as well. We'll have to make it a point to meet up again for some shooting.

Thanks, Ian. I've shot 30 second exposures in the past, and will probably switch back to that for the reason you state. I would have done it this time, but I forgot the timer manual, and I was too lazy and in too much of a rush to figure it out this time. :giggle

Nice ones Joel. Well done in the effort to get something. thumb.gif I walked
away with no Persieds in one heck of a lot of frames. Each time they
were just out or in another part of the sky. Need two cameras out there.
The high ISO is killer for noise. PP a serious pain despite software.

Nice mountain silhouette line in your shots too. :D

Thanks, guys. Here's a star trails made out of all the frames I captured. If you look carefully, you can see the meteors. The long lines going toward the lower right are airplanes.
