Hi,
I was thinking of buying the STO-FEN omnibounce from the states (20$+5$ shipping to philippines)
my question... Is there a difference if im going to use a generic one which costs around 4$ than the sto-fen? im putting it on a 580ex II... thanks :D:D

I've read that "some" of the generic devices have a sloppy fit and the color purity is somewhat suspect. No serious problems that I recall.

    I agree with Ziggy but...
I agree with Ziggy about the quality of the Stofen knock-offs but, I don't like either the Stofen or the Chinese knock-offs of that product.

The unit that I use is the Joe Demb Flash Diffuser Pro...

I have used any number of reflector/diffusers from the home made models to the Omnibounce to the Gary Fong Whales Tail; and the best of the lot is the Flash Diffuser pro. IMO, it is the most versatile and provides the best lighting.

    Here are a few examples...

I've noticed two different types of generic omni's out there. One is prism covered and does not stay on at first. The other is a exact dup of the omni, longer flash mount area and seems to be the same material, softer plastic. I have had all three, the omni and dup are the best, the prism type does stay on after leaving it attached for a while. the prism type also is more translucent and gives off harsher light.
So both have different benefits to offer, i currently sliced a omni dup to hold colored gels, just slip the Rosco samples into the slit, and the gels dont get that burnt appearance after several flashes.
    Ted....
