You've got to be kidding me.
In order to maximize the frame rate for my D700 & D300 for shooting sports, I've been thinking about going to the EN-EL4a battery for my MB-D10 grip. Well, I just did some quick math and can only conclude it would be pretty uneconomical.
1. (2) EN-EL4a batteries @ $115.00 = $330
2. Charger = $105
3. Adapter for the MB-D10 = $35 (why isn't this included? Nikon . . ?)
Total = $370.00
What's the alternative you ask?
Set of (16) new NiMH 2650 mAh Duracel rechargeables = $50
Already have the charger and several sets of four, but don't want to mix batteries.
Why would I want to blow $320 since the MS-D10 AA adapter is already included with my MB-D10. As a bonus, the AA's are 2650 mAh and the EN-EL4a's are only 2500 mAh. And for another $20 or so, I could go for 2850 mAh NiMHs. :dunno

But as far as frame rates, Nikon (in both the D300 and D700 books, says it's the same (8fps) with the EN-EL4a and AAs. As far as lasting, I'm betting the 2850 mAh batteries will perform as well as the 2500 mAh En-EL4a. I'm sure not willing to invest the cash to do a side-by-side though .
