I don't post much here, so allow me to share some of my recent bike racing shots. This summer, I spent most of June and July shooting for two major race series here in WI and IL. I shot 27 days out of 43 averaging 2,000 to 3,000 photos per day and eventually wearing out the shutter in my Canon 1D MkII N. However, that gave me a chance to rent a Canon 7D which is one sweet camera.
1. Tour of America's Dairyland (WI). Heres James Stemper who ended up winning the overall for the 10 day series.
2. Mike Sherer of Bloomington, IN. Just recently won a BIG race in Chicago. Here racing in Waterloo, WI. Home of Trek bicycles. I got gobbled up by mosquitoes shooting this one!
3. This is Aurelien Passeron, a Frenchman who has competed in the Tour de France in the past, but spent this summer racing here in America. Here he is winning in Fond Du Lac, WI
4. In July came the 17 day (in a row!) series called "Superweek". On this day in Richton Park, IL I captured this Chicago area rider whizzing by.
5. James Stemper again, this time racing in the rain in Milwaukee.
6. One of the lower category riders racing in downtown Evanston, IL. Right in the heart of Chicago land. 20,000 spectators (no kidding). Quite a busy day!

Natural selection is responsible for every living thing that exists.
D3s, D500, D5300, and way more glass than the wife knows about.
Yeah, well that fence in #4 is part of the crowd barriers. Gotta have those so it's just part of the scene.
Under some conditions it get's so dark that I'm just wasting my time since the photos will look so flat, and that's when I pull out the flash. Normally that's towards the end of the day since batteries (even a Turbo pack) only last so long and I have to make sure I've got enough juice left for the awards which come at the end.
These days with everybody bringing their camera, and more and more frequently a GOOD camera, you've got to do something that WOW's 'em and makes your's stand out. You've always got to have a trick or two up your sleeve!
Thanks for looking!
anyway, great shots, do you race also?
Great shots! Do you prefer the 7d to the IIN? I'm looking at getting a IIN. Thanks.
