I have been outside, and its at least 100 degrees!! The Dragonflys will let you get right up on them. This one has something on its underside, could it be eggs???

I would have never thought of that. I have a ton of pictures I took today. The insects were out in full force. I started using the tubes, just the 2 largest ones. I 'll add the 3rd one later. I am going to attempt to focus stack some of the shots, mabey they will turn out ok. I shot them for just that purpose.

Kenko Tubes? Nikon D80, Nikon 105VR Micro lens? Is this what you wanted to know?

I am haveing trouble with the focus stack program. I have never been able to get it to work. Does the pics have to be exactly the same?? I would guess they need to be the same size, and in generaly the same pose, but you should see what I end up with. I just tried 2 frames, and they were almost identical, and still messed up?? Do you guys use raw or jpeg??

Yes, thanks. FWIW, I don't think this shot needs stacking. You have the eye in focus and it's a side shot. But.. I have always converted to tiff or jpg before stacking with Zerene. There are others here who do tons of stacking, so they might be better able to help you trouble shoot.

Good capture - yes dragons and damsels get parasitised by aquatic mites.

For software focus stacking you really need no subject movement at all between the frames.

At that magnification, I'd think you'd need at least six shots to get a decent stack. I'm certainly no authority, nor do I play one on TV.
