Ben your captures get better and better. I really see an improvement in your exposures, WB, compositions.. the whole deal. great job. Are ya getting birded out yet?

Great shots, Ben. I'm lucky to get a good one with them sitting still, much less doing synchronized flying.

Beautiful water color and great captures. To my eye the birds don't look as sharp as the surface of the water, especially their eyes.
These shots show the other side of the coin compared to Ginger's shot here. You have exposed to show feather detail but the birds aren't as white as they look to the eye. As I wrote to Ginger, I think this is a hard problem and I'm interested in solving it.

Heck no Buddy, comments like yours just fire me up some more
You know how much I appreciate your support from the very beginning, just had to tell you again

Hi Rutt
Can't say much about the Digital Darkroom work. Except I can if you want tell you my workflow. Time of day was late afternoon, birds traveling west into setting sun
I might be able help on the camera end. You will notice that my F-stop was 6.3 this is usually good for a single bird in flight, but not for duals. I should of upped the F-Stop to 8 or even 11, but that would have killed my shutter speed without upping ISO. However this kind of shot happens in the blink of an eye and I was unable to make the necessary changes. So the softness in the birds could come from lack of DOF.
If you would care to work on one of the raws from this set just let me know and I'll put it up. Very interested in what you find, could only help me improve my work.
Ben emailed me the raw version of the first image and I played around with it. This prompted me to write a fairly long post about color balance for sunset lit shots, including a couple of alternate treatments of this shot. I really like those, Ben. Wish I had that clear water. Are you in an ocean situation? What keeps your water so clear?
Good captures. I always have liked dancing birds, and those are good ones.

Hi Ginger
Yes near but not at the ocean. The marsh here has a strong flow and I think that helps keep it pretty clear. The rest comes from my Post work. I set WB by picking a gray point in the image (something that was 128) on the curves palette and bang that made the blue really pop!! In fact had to manually tone it down a bit
