    Sorry to hear about your bad luck. To throw more into it, after around 6PM the park doesn't charge a fee for entrance. Technically you are required to hang a pass on your rearview mirror with your pay stub or annual park pass but I have never had a ranger check. Also, not all of the park requires an entry fee and there are a few nice places to photograph without even entering the park.

    As to why you were asked to not take photos near the Hood Canal - were you near the Bangor Naval Submarine Base? It looks like you were as those were nav buoys. If you could see the Delta pier from where you were at then, ya it is a super restricted area - like with Marines and deadly force restricted.
