Well, I know I am hopeless at landscapes, but I fancied a walk this evening as it was a pleasant evening, and so I went down the canal which starts here in Preston (we are where the Millennium Link was added, the newest length of canal in England for 200 years) and goes through to Lancaster, and decided to give it a go.

Mostly, canals are fairly ordinary, and I suppose this shot would have been too, so I tried to give it something different by adding a mist filter (carefully placed and selectively erased) and few few other tweaks (don't ask me what now though, I just did that and this and this and that until it looked pleasing to my eye) until I finally ended up with what is below.

C&C as always.

Your dressing up of the image turned out well on the whole, I think. A little less dense shadow on the outer trees might have been preferable. I think you could have given the canal more prominence. The bush fills a lot of the view, as does the path, though with more reason. I know the trouble with bushes blocking the view. Here in Australia, our much lauded "wilderness" too often means, for photography, not being able to get a clear view of anything!

    Thanks Neil.

The bush by the waters edge is in fact an invasive weed, known as the Giant Hogwart, not native to the UK. It's sap burns skin and it can grow to six metres tall.
